Description

Dorothea Tanning (1910-2012) is an American painter and sculptor. In 1942 she joined the Surrealist movement and met Max Ersnt. They would have 34 years together in France, before she decided to go back to New York after his death. First considered as a main actor of Surrealism, she stood out in the 50s by turning women situation in art around, through the daring representation of female fantasy.
