Description
To design this book, graphic designer Rathna Ramanathan immersed herself in the surrealist typographic productions of the Kandinsky Library at the Centre Pompidou: leaflets, posters, flyers and programs, anonymous or signed, constituting an extraordinary range of daring compositions. The author was inspired by this material and, more generally, by the surrealist spirit, to create her own graphic compositions in the service of the poem "Liberté", a masterpiece by Paul Éluard with a universal theme.
Originally from Chennai, India, Rathna Ramanathan is the director of the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London as well as minus9, her own graphic design studio. As a graphic designer and typographer, she is recognized for her work with Tara Books, an independent collective of writers and designers of books that advocate for social justice and feminism. The books she designed with Tara Books have won numerous international awards.
