Description

I had the chance to observe Brancusi in the middle of his career, at the height of his creative power, very generous to me and always with a smile in his eyes. He was then the character he remained until the end. All white. His clothes were always white, his beard already white, and his workshop, with its blocks of marble, always covered in white dust. Two plaster tables, round and massive, served as bases; there was a white stove on which he cooked his famous steaks; and two white dogs that he fed milk from a laundry basin. (4th cover)
