Description

Developed in close collaboration with the artist, this retrospective pays tribute to the richness and diversity of his career, from press cartoons to graphic novels and children's albums.

Bringing together nearly one hundred and thirty original pieces, unpublished drawings, sketches, notebooks, and film extracts, the exhibition gives a broad overview of her work: first her beginnings, childhood drawings and student work, as well as his literary influences; her work as a press cartoonist at the Guardian, where Posy Simmonds sketches cultured English society with humor, via archetypal figures, some of whom will become the heroines of her future graphic novels; his tales for young people, modern and insolent; at the heart of the exhibition, Gemma Bovery (1999), Tamara Drewe (2007) and Cassandra Darke (2018); and finally an epilogue devoted to his drawings on the literary and publishing world, his more recent work and his drawings linked to France.
