Description
On the occasion of Ettore Sottsass's first major retrospective at the Center Pompidou in 1994, Alessi donated several manufactured design objects, which thus joined the collection of the Musée national d'art moderne. Centerpiece of a tableware set dating from 1989, the "Twergi" range, the Salt, pepper and spice Mill MP 0215, echoes the designer's iconic totems.
In 2021, for this new exhibition, the Center Pompidou asked Alessi to reissue the Salt, pepper ans spice Mill and thus pay tribute to its inimitable design.
Typical of the Omegna region where Alessi is located, the Twergi is part of a very old tradition of artisanal woodworking, especially turning, which is partly manual. It is made in Italy, in FSC certified beech wood and painted with water-based paints and without solvents, which guarantees its eco-responsible origin. Anxious to adapt the products to current uses, the mill is made of ceramics, which ensures perfect grinding.
