Description

This anthology is a reminder of the major place of Germaine Richier's art in her time and, more broadly, in the history of sculpture and the 20th century. It restores the fascination that her work and her personality exerted on post-war literary circles and the diversity of views on this art, described as expressionist, matierist, informal, surrealist, fantastic and baroque. In addition to the texts signed by eminent writers and critics, there are testimonies that give an account of the revelation that a visit to the Parisian studio represented, as well as the intimate accounts of artists who frequented Richier. Finally, other texts shed light on the question of the posterity of Richier's work in France and abroad, emphasizing his impact on a whole generation of artists.
