Description

Between 1929 and 1934, Moshe Vorobeichic lived in Paris, the international center of avant-garde photography. Close to André Malraux, he attended Fernand Léger's Académie Moderne and studied at the technical school of photography and cinematography in the rue de Vaugirard. He publishes several of his images, independently or for the agency Photo Globe, in magazines such as Arts et métiers graphiques, Plans, Bifur or VU. Signed with the pseudonym "Moï Ver", they are part of the aesthetics of the New Photographic Vision: bird's eye views, close-ups, studies of materials, fading, collages and photomontages constitute his visual vocabulary. In 1931, Jeanne Walter published Paris. 80 photographs by Moï Ver with an introduction by Fernand Léger. Hailed by contemporary critics, the book became one of the major works of the avant-garde. That same year, "Moï Wer" - who thus changed the spelling of his artist's name - produced the model for a new photographic book.
