Description
Language: French
An artist who died prematurely, but admirably represented in the collections of the Center Pompidou thanks to Daniel Cordier, his friend and dealer, Bernard Réquichot (1929-1961) is the author of a demanding and protean work, combining different mediums such as painting, drawing, collage, but also sculpture.
His formal research oscillates between abstraction and figuration, in a quest for the absolute which echoes his literary and poetic work. Rich in unprecedented iconography, this work, catalogue of the first retrospective of Bernard Réquichot organized in Paris for 50 years, offers a faithful panorama of the creative profusion of this extraordinary artist, admired by Roland Barthes, whose work remains of a disturbing singularity.
