Description

Children's furniture objects span the history of 20th century design. It was at the beginning of the century that the children's bedroom appeared, in parallel with the growing place that the youngest took in society. Far from being a miniaturization of objects intended for adults, children's furniture quickly acquires autonomy and takes on its own specificity.

The greatest designers, from Pierre Chareau to Matali Crasset, including Marcel Gascoin, Bruno Munari and Philippe Starck, have taken an interest in it. In wood or plastic, fun, comfortable, transformable or multifunctional, children's furniture is, beyond its own requirements, a particularly fertile field of experimentation for designers.

The "Childhood of Design" exhibition and this accompanying catalog are the first in France devoted to this subject. (4th cover)
