Description
"In his first comics, published late, starting in the 180s, Baudoin ushered in both genres of drawn reporting and autobiography. The face becomes a pathway, a point of passage. Through drawing, he digs into it, erases it, declines it, merges it with others, until its solid mask falls - until it is revealed. Thus, he follows Aratud's saying : "The human face is an empty force, a death field. / The old revolutionnary claim of a form that has never matched its body, that was reaching something other than the body. [...] Which means that the human countenance has not found its face / and that it is the painter who must give it." - La bande dessinée au Musée, Editions du Centre Pompidou, 2024
