Description
The digital revolution was already underway when Steven Pippin became famous with his silver halide proto-photography, taken with everyday-life objects used as darkroom (bathtubs, closets or washing-machines, which is for Pippin the ideal item to take a picture of its environment). Like an engineer, he reinvents the camera, developping new systems and hybrid machines he calls "Non-Cameras". He presents on the same page his invention and its often imperfect results, whose aesthetic is fundamentally linked to the machine that created it.
Steven Pippin went as far as shooting a gun in a camera so as to take a picture of the bullet penetrating the photographic film...
