Description
In this bilingual (French-English) book, one of the first dedicated to the subject, explore the artistic dialogue that emerges from the Stravinsky Fountain, created by Jean Tinguely and Niki de Saint-Phalle. Located in Igor Stravinsky Square and commissioned by Pierre Boulez to stand in front of the IRCAM, this fountain is a true tribute to music and the celebrated Russian composer. In a creative collaboration where both artists equally expressed their unique visions, Tinguely and Saint-Phalle crafted a monument that captivates with its harmony and its striking contrast against the monumental architecture of the Centre Pompidou.
Recently renovated, thanks in large part to public donations, this fountain-so beloved by Parisians-now reveals its renewed appearance, with exclusive post-renovation photography. This book provides insights into the overall concept behind the fountain as well as the significance and message of each of the 16 sculptures that comprise it.
