Description

Textiles occupy a unique place in the history of design. They bear witness to the aesthetic and technical upheavals of the 20th century, while simultaneously fueling the most radical experiments. Long confined to the decorative, textiles have nonetheless shaped interiors, structured spaces, and inspired new ways of conceiving objects.

Based on some one hundred works from national design collections, created by around forty designers, the catalogue for the exhibition "Follow the Thread! Design and Textiles" offers an immersive experience in a history where textiles become the matrix of spaces and objects, linking craftsmanship and technology, ancestral techniques and contemporary utopias.
