About the Artwork

The Frame

Frida Kahlo (1907-1954)
The Frame
1938
Huile sur aluminium, cadre d'artiste en bois peint
28,5 x 20,7 cm
Iconic self-portrait of the artist, The Frame is an unusual work. The floral composition surrounding Frida Kahlo's portrait is not a self-production but a craft confection, made with varnish on glass. This frame, which was first intended to hold a mirror, actually gives all its originality to the work by sublimating its author.

Frida Kahlo

Frida Kahlo (1907 - 1954) est une artiste mexicaine, notamment célèbre pour ses séries d'autoportraits.

Acrylic Print

The technique of printing under acrylic glass used by the greatest artists gives the works a very contemporary look, depth and brings intensity to the colours. Acrylic glass (Plexiglas®) is unbreakable, lighter than glass and easy to clean with a sponge.

  • Thickness of the acrylic: 2 mm.
  • Bright finish.
  • Aluminum laminated rear panel Dibond black 3 mm
  • System of hangers and plastic cushions that allow to detach the work from the wall.
