Charles Ray's fine art

"I am a sculptor by trade, but at night I draw flowers to give free rein to my love of color. »

Charles Ray

This fine art was printed in 50 copies exclusively for the Center Pompidou, on the occasion of Charles Ray's exhibition presented from February 16, 2022 to June 20, 2022. At the same time, an exhibition of the artist is also presented at the Bourse de Commerce - Pinault Collection.

Charles Ray is inspired by the flowers in the song "Where Have All Flowers Gone?" by Pete Seeger, which his mother sang to him when he was a child. In this song, the musician substitutes the image of flowers for the young men who have left to die in the war. Here, Charles Ray uses the shape of the petals, stems and leaves as a ready-made support for the color relationships that pass in his mind to the sheet of paper.
