Description

This special issue presents, for the first time, contributions from international researchers devoted to overlooked works, whether published or not, created using the photocopier. Between the mid-1960s and the late 1980s, many artists experimented with it, giving form to productions that defied traditional artistic categories: leaflets, diaries, calendars, experimental films, collages, installations, performances, and more. In what ways did the artistic repurposing of this office tool contribute to the renewal of practices, circuits of circulation, and methods of dissemination of artworks? Adopting a transnational perspective, this volume brings together original studies that critically and historically examine the diversity and richness of the use of a device that profoundly transformed our cultural and creative landscape.
